As 2025 nears its close, we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead, 2026 will bring a wave of new incentives for SMEs, startups, and cities across Europe.
Within the EIT Urban Mobility framework, this momentum will build on the remarkable progress achieved under the RIS initiatives, aiming to foster smarter, cleaner, and more connected urban ecosystems.

Our focus in the upcoming year will span several critical thematic areas shaping the future of mobility:
Urban Logistics: Driving zero-emission and efficient last-mile delivery networks, integrating smart routing, shared logistics hubs, and automation to make city deliveries greener and more cost-efficient.
Mobility Safety & Pollution Reduction: Applying AI, IoT, and sensor-based technologies to reduce accidents and pollution — turning data into actionable intelligence for safer streets and cleaner air.
Digital Mobility Solutions: Developing data-driven platforms that integrate public and private transport systems, optimize fleet operations, and enhance citizen accessibility through seamless digital experiences.

As part of our 2026 agenda, we’ll be launching a new wave of info sessions and scouting activities.
We are particularly looking for innovative startups in urban mobility, ready to scale their solutions toward VC-level funding and integration into Europe’s growing innovation ecosystem.

During the EIT Urban Mobility RIS Summit 2025 in Timișoara, the country representatives once again proved how vision, technology, and collaboration can redefine and transform Urban Mobility landcape.
The city transformation since my last visit in 2010 is truly inspiring and Timișoara stands today as a living lab for urban innovation, bridging tradition with forward-thinking development.
