Establishment of FabLab BiH

Establishment of the first digital fabrication lab (FabLab) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, officially recognized by the global FabLab network.

Project Description

FabLab Sarajevo is the first official digital fabrication laboratory in Bosnia and Herzegovina, recognized by the global FabLab network. Established through self-funding and voluntary work, it aims to make science and innovation accessible to all. The lab offers advanced technologies including 3D printers, scanners, robotics, and microcontroller kits. Located in the University of Sarajevo Campus, it serves students, entrepreneurs, industry, and the general public.

The launch event (October 7, 2020) gathered partners and international institutions, including the EU Delegation, UNDP, embassies, and ministries. FabLab Sarajevo aims to foster entrepreneurship, digital skills, and community development through a dedicated STEMIE educational program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship). The organization plans to expand with local partners across major cities and offer mobile labs for rural inclusion. FabLab is open to everyone regardless of background, and membership will be available online for a symbolic fee.
