The project “Uspostava Laboratorije za optiku” aims to strengthen FabLab Sarajevo by acquiring and integrating an inverted optical microscope, laying the foundation for a new, inclusive FabLab Optical Laboratory. The lab supports hands-on STEM education, enabling micro-level analysis, quality control, and product calibration, essential for advanced digital fabrication projects. The initiative promotes technical culture in BiH by providing access to equipment and knowledge, especially to underserved youth and educators.
Implemented between July and September 2021, it reached over 1,000 people through awareness campaigns and offered new services to FabLab users, designers, students, and professionals. The lab is envisioned as part of a broader FabLab expansion strategy across BiH, allowing for equipment use in future satellite labs and diversifying educational programs (e.g., textile, biomimicry, ecoFabLab). The project outcomes include increased lab capacity, establishment of the optical lab, and wider public awareness about the importance of technical culture.
