The SCIHubs project promotes the integration of smart city and smart region solutions into the spatial planning, governance, and economic development of the Danube Region. It initially focuses on three areas: the Centru Region of Romania, the Northern Region of Moldova, and Sarajevo Canton in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These regions represent different levels of innovation maturity but share a common goal of adopting digital, sustainable, and citizen-focused solutions in local and regional governance.
The project aims to foster transnational collaboration, exchange of best practices, and technology transfer between innovation ecosystems. It will support pilot projects, local action plans, and digital tools that can help public administrations and communities transition toward smarter, more resilient futures. Expansion to additional Danube regions is planned as the network grows. SCIHubs serves as a strategic platform for capacity building, policy alignment, and regional innovation diffusion.
