Maker Faire Sarajevo 2022 was the inaugural edition of one of the world’s largest festivals celebrating innovation, science, technology, and creativity, held for the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Organized on May 28–29 on the Skenderija plateau and in Dom Mladih, the event hosted 85 exhibitors and over 160 makers, including engineers, startups, students, universities, labs, and companies. With over 13,000 attendees, the faire offered interactive spaces like the Education and Industry Zones, over 20 STEM workshops for children aged 4–18, a dedicated lab and tech center zone with live 3D printing demos, as well as VR and escape room experiences. The Arts and Crafts zone connected modern maker culture with tradition, showcasing local crafts and creative design.
The event promoted STEM education, youth engagement, and the democratization of innovation, aligning with global maker values while reflecting Sarajevo’s local identity.
