FabLab Bosnia & Herzegovina Association organized the fourth Sarajevo Maker Faire last weekend, on May 31 and June 1, 2025, in the beautiful setting of Villa Braun, attracting over 5,000 visitors of all generations. The two-day event brought together more than 200 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, who showcased the latest innovations in technology, art, science, and design.
This year’s theme, “City Makers: Urban Lab,” was dedicated to sustainable urban development. Startups presented solutions in the fields of mobility, recycling, and digital technologies. A special focus was placed on the innovations of high school students from BiH, while exhibitors from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia also participated, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Centar Municipality Sarajevo, Srđan Mandić, and the Director of FabLab, Edin Skaljić, who announced the establishment of the first Living Lab at Villa Braun. This innovative space for co-creating urban solutions between citizens, local government, and experts is supported by the European Union.
The main sponsor of the Sarajevo Maker Faire festival is the InnoXcellerate project, implemented by FabLab as part of the EU4PSD initiative, financed by the European Commission and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
