FabMobile BiH is FabLab Bosnia and Herzegovina’s flagship outreach project under the BOOST: Balkans for Optimising Opportunities, Sustainability and Transformation of Civil Society programme, coordinated by ALDA – the European Association for Local Democracy and funded by Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
Through this High-Tech Youth Caravan, a 7-metre mobile digital fabrication lab travels across eight municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing 3D printers, laser cutters, VR headsets, and solar-powered tools directly to young people in rural and peri-urban communities.
The project delivers hands-on maker education, green innovation training, and entrepreneurship mentoring to over 200 youth (aged 15–29), at least 40% of whom are young women. Participants learn practical digital-fabrication skills, design thinking, and sustainable product development, transforming their ideas into real prototypes showcased at the Sarajevo Maker Fair 2026.
Beyond training, FabMobile BiH builds a connected ecosystem of teachers, youth officers, local governments, and SMEs to continue supporting creative youth long after the project ends. With initiatives such as #GirlsMakeBiH and an online learning platform “FabYouth,” the Caravan ensures inclusion, visibility, and long-term impact.
By combining innovation, mobility, and inclusiveness, FabMobile BiH demonstrates how technology can bridge the urban-rural divide, nurture entrepreneurship, and inspire young people to build a sustainable future in their own communities.
