e-NABLE BiH is the Bosnian and Herzegovinian chapter of the global “Enabling the Future” volunteer network, which creates low-cost, open-source 3D-printed prosthetics for those in need. With a global shortage of affordable prosthetic devices and a high rate of economic and social exclusion for people with disabilities in BiH, the project addresses an urgent need. FabLab BiH steps in to develop ultra-low-cost, easy-to-use prosthetic hands using digital fabrication tools like 3D printers and scanners.
These devices do not rely on complex electronics, making them accessible, lightweight, and easier to maintain. The prosthetic fingers are controlled through wrist or elbow movement, offering a practical, affordable alternative to conventional prosthetics. The project empowers individuals with limb loss, enabling them to lead more independent and dignified lives, while raising awareness about inclusive design and the potential of digital fabrication for social impact.
