The project “Connecting Makerspaces in the Western Balkans Region,” led by FabLab BiH and funded by the Western Balkans Fund, aimed to develop a cross-border network of makerspaces and innovation hubs across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and North Macedonia. Three thematic workshops were held in Zlatibor (digital tourism & virtual reality), Čačak (maker entrepreneurship & IP), and Štip (creative problem-solving & green business ideas). The project concluded with a recap and planning session in Sarajevo. Activities involved over 100 participants, including students, startups, professors, and FabLab professionals.
The project promoted skills development, regional cooperation, and knowledge exchange, while initiating the development of the regional maker platform “Maker.ba” and future joint events and training programs. The initiative strengthened relationships among tech parks, incubators, and education institutions, fostering an innovation-friendly ecosystem in the Western Balkans.
